The Correct Skin Care Routine For You

Skin care is the collection of practices that support skin health, improve its appearance and alleviate various skin conditions. Skin care includes prevention of sun damage, proper use of moisturizers and nutrition. Skin Care also includes cosmetics (cosmeceuticals), surgical treatments (epilators, dermabrasion, chemical peels and laser treatment) and non-surgical treatments (reflexive therapy, thermage, aesthetic surgery and laser resurfacing). Some of the common components used in Skin Care include Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs), Antioxidants (Oxygen, Vitamin C and Vitamin E), Retinoid (Reticoprotein, Retinol) and Vitamin A.

Skin care products usually target one or more skin care problems. Skin care products are available for men and women and for all ages. Most of the popular skin care products on the market contain AHAs, BHAs and antioxidants. However, AHAs are more popular and more effective than BHAs and antioxidants because they are more easily absorbed into the body. There are also moisturizers and cleansers, which can be classified as skin care products. Cleansers are meant to clean the pores thoroughly and remove dirt and excess oil from the surface of the skin.

Makeup is another important component of a skin care regimen. The purpose of using makeup is to improve your overall appearance, make you feel healthier and give you a pleasant appearance. Common components of makeup in skin care products are cleansing milk, cleansing oil, eye contour gel, eye shadow, blush, lip gloss, eyeliner and lipstick.

Proper use of moisturizers is essential in skin healthy and in preventing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Some of the most effective ingredients of moisturizers are glycerin, seaweed extract, shea butter and vitamin E. Some of the other ingredients that should be present in a good skin care moisturizer are lanolin, mineral oil, cocoa butter, sodium hydroxide, zinc oxide and plant moisturizer extracts. Sun protection should be a part of any regimen for good skin care and it should be applied on exposed skin areas only. Sunscreen should be an SPF15 at least.

Some people may want to add in other products along with the cleanser and moisturizer. If you suffer from acne, then you may want to consider an exfoliant or a salicylic acid based cleanser along with a salicylic acid-based moisturizer. If you have dry skin, then you may want to add a layer of skin care cream which contains jojoba oil-free cleanser and a nighttime moisturizer that contain hyaluronic acid. A good skin care routine will make a tremendous difference in the way that you look. You will begin to see results almost immediately.

Skin care routines need to be consistent and you should always put them into practice in a natural manner. Don’t go in for quick fixes; rather build up on your routine over a period of time. You will be amazed at how great you look and how fresh and youthful you will appear. So, get yourself started on a regular skin care routine and enjoy a more youthful complexion.
